2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is GM’s most powerful car ever

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 was finally revealed, and as expected it was a numerical engine. We do not know everything about ZR1 yet, but this is the most important number released so far.

Because in the showroom next spring, 2019 Corvette ZR1 is the fastest and strongest Corvette in board history. The bottom line is the new V-8 code that is named LT5. Corvette fans will recognize the engine code of the V-8 used on the C4 Corvette ZR-1 in the early 90s.

2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1 Powertrain

The modern LT5 is a 6.2 liter V-8 that delivers 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque. The engine is based on the V-8 LT4 design mounted on the Corvette Z06 and several other cars, but has the advantage of a more efficient intercooled supercharger with 52 percent more displacement than a LT4 supercharger. The engine also features the first General Motors dual-motor fuel injection system, which uses primary direct injection and additional port injection.

All power is channeled to the rear wheels, either through the 7 speed manual or 8 speed automatic. This is the first time auto offered in ZR1.

With so much power that only through the rear wheels, Chevrolet knows the ZR1 will need serious downforce to make full use of it’s greatness. The engineers actually produced two packages, with a more extreme choice, dubbed the High Wing, for obvious reasons, capable of generating up to £ 950 downforce. This is part of the ZTK Performance Package, which also includes a front divider with carbon fiber end cover, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires, and special calibration for chassis and magnetic ride suspension.

Cooling has been a problem for the Z06, so Chevy added four new radiators to the ZR1 for a total of 13 heat exchangers. The front end is redesigned with new intake openings to feed air into this new cooling component.

Another option is the Low Wing, which will see the car reach top speed, in this case over 210 mph, but offer lower downforce than the Wing High option. There is still 70 percent downforce more than the Z06.
Corvette ZR1 has a top speed of 210 mph, making it the fastest production Corvette ever, according to Chevy.

Chevy says its wings are incorporated into the structure of the car, as in the Corvette C7.R racecar, to add strength and stability. And they work with aero up front, which includes underwing that improves the underwing style. Also up front is a new fascia designed to feed a lot of cold air to 13 car heat exchangers. It’s clear Chevy has learned the lesson from the Z06 overheat problem.

ZR1 uses the most carbon fiber from Chevy to date, which contributes to a 3.560 lbs curb weight – almost the same as Z06.
The latest Chevy event news revealed is the availability of the Sebring Orange Design Package. In addition to bright orange exterior colors, the package also includes orange brake calipers, orange rockers and accent splitter lines, orange belts, interior and orange seam stitching, bronze aluminum interior trim.

Also for the interior, there are full leather trims, carbon fiber steering, sports seats, performance data recorder, and Bose sound system.

So why is the greatest Corvette making its debut in Dubai? The car was originally due earlier this year, as a 2018 model, but the factory upgrades at Corvette’s Bowling Green, Kentucky house, mean the 2018 model for the Corvette is cut short. And by ordering a book for the 2019 Corvette range, including the ZR1, opened on November 20, Chevy needs to unveil the ASAP car. Although L.A. Auto Show seems to be a more natural choice to debut, though not open its doors until 29 November.

Prices for 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 have not been announced yet, but this is a safe bet with starting price will exceed $ 100,000. The 2018 Corvette Z06 starts at $ 81,585 and 2009 ZR1  previously started at $ 105,000. However, Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter promises ZR1 prices will not be double that of stingrays, which starts at $ 56,590.
